On 5 April 2023, the national state of disaster declared on 9 February 2023 (GN3020 GG 48009 p5 9Feb2023), and all related regulations and directions made to address the impact of the severe electricity supply constraints were repealed with immediate effect by RGN3265 GG 48400 p3 5 April 2023. The Classification of National Disaster: Impact of Severe Electricity Supply Constraint (GN3019 GG 48009 p3 9Feb2023) was also revoked on 5 April 2023 by RGN3266 GG 48400 p4 5 April 2023.

The national state of disaster was originally announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa during his annual State of the Nation address on 9 February 2023.
